May Array is the title of a new exhibition opening on 1st May at The Lime Tree Gallery, Bristol where five of my Japan inspired collage paintings will be featured. After my wonderful trips to Japan I was inspired to create works in which I have used various papers collected on my trips. The papers include wonderful textured papers and also origami papers with beautiful printed designs. I particularly like using papers found along the way like newspaper, manga books, sweet wrappers and tickets. The works on display at The Lime Tree include "Mysterious Interior" an abstract piece inspired by intriguing interiors of some traditional houses with their subtle colours and textures. Memories of mountain walks to shrines and tea houses passing stone lanterns along the way have inspired "Stone Lantern" and looking into the edge of ponds in wonderful gardens "Pond's Edge". The sometimes grey cities of Japan cannot be ignored and my "City Colours" is one of several paintings in which I have explored the abstract interpretation of this theme. If you are near Bristol do pop into this lovely gallery where you will recieve a warm welcome and encounter a rich variety of work. http://www.limetreegallery.com
